LiveGfree Pepperoni Stuffed Sandwiches Among Aldi Winners
The Aldi discount food chain in the United States closed out 2017 with more than 200 product awards under its belt, a record-breaking figure that quadrupled the number of prizes won in the previous year.
"We're honored each time Aldi wins an award," said Jason Hart, chief executive officer of the Batavia, Illinois-based branch of the Mülheim, Germany-headquartered company. "The recognitions mean our shoppers appreciate the quality of Aldi products and inspire us to keep bringing them the very best we can offer."
Perhaps the NPD team celebrated with Lot Series Grande Brut and Pepperoni Pizza Stuffed Sandwiches, which were both first place prize winners. The sparkling wine was toasted by Beverage Tasting Institute (BTI) judges as a Gold Medal winner, while the LiveGfree sandwiches took top honors among frozen meals category entries in the 7th Annual Gluten-Free Awards competition.
Weighing in at 255-grams and priced at just $2.69, the twin-pack of Pepperoni Pizza Stuffed Sandwiches features mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices and zesty tomato sauce enrobed in golden crust.
Aldi operates more than 1,700 stores that serve more than 40 million customers each month in 35 states across the USA. For the seventh year in a row, it was recognized as a value leader among grocery store operators in the United States by a Market Force Information survey of American consumers.
