Thai Union Highlights Tuna Innovations at Thaifex Show
Thai Union Group showcased its award-winning Yellowfin Tuna Slices and Tuna Sausages at the May 29-June 2 Thaifex – World of Food Asia exhibition in Bangkok. Many other value-added products produced by the company were also on display at the annual B2B event, which attracted more than 60,000 visitors from Asia and around the world.
Distributed in frozen form, Yellowfin Tuna Slices are being marketed as the world’s first pre-sliced, pre-seasoned tuna made from whole yellowfin tuna loins. They are positioned as a healthy, convenient alternative to traditional luncheon meats for sandwiches, salads, wraps and other culinary offerings.
The recently launched tuna sausage, developed by Thai Union’s Global Innovation Incubator in Bangkok, is high in Omega 3 and provides a good source of lean protein.
In March, Yellowfin Tuna Slices won the 2018 Seafood Excellence Award in the Best New Foodservice Product category at Seafood Expo North America in Boston. Additionally, the innovative offering was chosen as a finalist for the 2018 Seafood Excellence Global Awards at Seafood Expo Global in Brussels during April.
Thiraphong Chansiri, chief executive officer of Thai Union, said the presentation of innovative products at Thaifex reflects the company’s concentration on utilizing patent-pending technology to deliver healthy, value-added products with high nutritional values to serve consumers around the world.
