Sysco’s Gold Finger Points to Devi Seafoods for 6th Time

Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India-headquartered Devi Seafoods has again struck gold in the Sysco Supplier Excellence Awards competition. Its latest victory, announced on November 2, marked the sixth time the company has achieved golden status in the past seven years.

Sysco LogoThe winner is a major supplier of frozen shrimp and other seafood products to Houston, Texas-headquartered Sysco Corporation, the world’s leading foodservice distribution company. Devi, which ranks among India’s largest shrimp exporters to the USA, continues to expand its processing and cold chain storage capacity. On November 5 it announced plans for construction of a US $6 million packing facility in Andhra Pradesh that will commence this December.

Meanwhile, McCain Foods USA and Lakeside Foods Inc. were among other gold winners, while General Mills Foodservice took the highest honor as Supplier of the Year. McCain received a gold prize in the Bakery, Convenience & Potatoes category, while Lakeside Foods was golden in the Frozen/Canned Fruits & Vegetables competition.

Taking the silver award in the Seafood category was King and Prince Seafood. Bronze award winners included Tampa Maid Foods, Shediac Lobster Shop and Great American Seafood Imports Company.

Sweet Street was honored with a Gold Heritage Award, while Honolulu Fish Company won a specialty Bronze Suppliers on the Fry Award.

Among other bronze award winners were David’s Cookies, Sweet Street, Rich Products Corporation, J.R. Simplot Company, Conagra Foodservice and Butterball.

“Our customers are at the center of all that we do, so it’s important that we partner with suppliers and brokers who can help us improve our customers’ overall experience,” said Brian Todd, Sysco’s senior vice president of merchandising. “It’s equally important for us to recognize them for all the hard work and dedication they put forth to help us make our customers successful.”
