Minneapolis, Minnesota-headquartered Bellisio Foods is recalling approximately 173,376 pounds of frozen pork entrées that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically pieces of glass or hard plastic, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on February 23.
The Boston Market brand Boneless Pork Rib shaped patties with barbecue sauce and mashed potato meals were packed at the company’s Jackson, Ohio plant on various dates from December 7, 2018 to February 15, 2019. Distributed in 14-ounce black and red cardboard boxes that bear establishment number “EST 18297” on end carton flaps, the microwaveable products are further identified by the following “Best By” dates and lot code numbers: 12/07/2019, lot code 834; 01/04/2020, lot code 9004; 01/24/2020, lot code 9024; 02/15/2020, lot code 9046.
The entrées were shipped to a US Department of Defense facility in Tucson, Arizona, as well as to supermarkets and other retail stores nationwide.
The problem was brought to the attention of Bellisio Foods after a customer complained of finding glass or hard plastic extraneous material in a rib shaped patty. FSIS was notified on February 22.
Concerned that some packs may be in consumers’ home freezers, FSIS urges that they not be eaten but instead thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for a refund. Thus far there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injuries due to consumption of these products.
