Palermo’s Pizza on Charitable Mission to Feed the Poor

Palermo Villa, Inc., a third generation family-owned frozen pizza company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on December 16 announced a new pizza operation, Mission Pizza Company, which has been launched to expand upon its long-standing efforts to feed economically disadvantaged persons. Through the line, Palermo’s hopes to donate up to 500,000 pizzas to needy persons in the midwestern region of the United States over the next year.

For every five Mission pizzas sold, Palermo’s will donate one additional frozen pizza to charitable organizations working to address hunger in communities where the pizzas are available for purchase. The line is being distributed to stores in Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay, Wisconsin, as well as outlets in Chicago and Champaign, Illinois; Des Moines, Iowa, and Kansas City, Missouri.

The thin-crust pizza, value-priced from between $3 and $5 each, will be available in five varieties – Cheese, Combination, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni and Supreme.

“Food is essential, and there are many people in America without resources to feed themselves or their families,” said Laurie Fallucca, Palermo’s chief creative officer. “The mission of Mission Pizza Company is to help feed people in need and encourage those who enjoy our pizzas to join with us in making a difference in their own communities.”

Palermo’s is encouraging its customers to participate in the mission by visiting www.missionpizzacompany.com, where they can go to the “Tell Us Your Stories” section and share ways in which their local community is working to feed people in need.

“We have created an interactive brand that really captures the spirit of giving,” Fallucca said. “We’re excited to launch Mission Pizza and get our already loyal consumer base involved in joining us in the fight against hunger.”

Mission Pizza honors Palermo’s immigrant founders, Gaspare and Zina Fallucca, whose spirit of generosity lives on more than 50 years later through the company’s social mission of feeding the hungry. Palermo’s has previously partnered with food banks including Hunger Task Force, Feeding America and The Greater Chicago Food Depository to donate frozen pizzas destined for the tables of poor people.
