Ice Cream maker Ben & Jerry’s has introduced a non-dairy, certified vegan range of frozen confectionery featuring an almond milk base. The South Burlington, Vermont, USA-headquartered company worked with Vegan Action to deliver what it calls “everything but the cow” in the form of four sweet treats that do not contain animal products of any kind – including eggs and honey.

Ben Jerrys icecream01“For years, non-dairy consumers have watched ice cream consumers with envy, and were unable to participate in a truly indulgent frozen dessert experience,” states a company press release. “Now the tables have turned, as non-dairy and vegan consumers can enjoy two classic Ben & Jerry’s flavors as well as a two non-dairy exclusive flavors all to satisfy their indulgence cravings.”

Ben Jerrys icecream02The exclusive flavors are P.B. & Cookies (Vanilla with Chocolate Sandwich Cookies and Crunchy Peanut Butter Swirls) and Coffee Caramel Fudge (Coffee with Fudge Chunks and Caramel Swirls). The classics are Chunky Monkey (Banana with Fudge Chunks and Walnuts) and Chocolate Fudge Brownie (Chocolate with Fudge Brownies from Greyston Bakery).

“Creating these new flavors with a non-dairy base composition that meets the high expectations of Ben & Jerry’s consumers was quite a challenge,” said Kirsten Schimoler, the company’s flavor expert. “We wanted to bring the same fun with all of the creamy, funky and chunky swirls plus the Ben & Jerry’s flavor excitement to our non-dairy fans, and we nailed it!”

Available in pints, the range has a suggested retail price of $5.69. The P.B. & Cookies flavor will be sold at Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops as well.
