Poppies International, Inc. of Battleboro, North Carolina, has issued a voluntary recall of Delizza Patisserie brand Belgian Custom Cream Mini Eclairs distributed in 50-count, 700-gram tubs, Mini Eclairs in 30-count, 400-gram containers, and Chocolate Enrobed Cream Puffs distributed in 30-count, 400-gram tubs due to potential health risks. The frozen products were made with custard powder containing affected milk ingredients supplied by a secondary supplier, Valley Milk Products LLC, due to the possible presence of Salmonella.

No illnesses or adverse health effects resulting from these events have been reported to date,” said the company in a statement posted at its website and announced simultaneously by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, and most individuals recover without treatment. In some cases, diarrhea may be so severe that the patient needs to be hospitalized. The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness.
