Just in time to showcase at the October 7-11 Anuga Exhibition in Köln, Germany, Erlenbacher Backwaren has unveiled three new tartes, two of which are under parent company Nestlé’s iconic After Eight and Lion labels.

With its unmistakable chocolate and mint flavor, the After Eight offering is positioned to bring a slice of British lifestyle onto cake plates. The crispy Lion variety serves up a lot of bite, and with melt-in-the-mouth caramel.

The third cake in the tasty trio is the Lemon Tarte. True to the motto of “something tart to cheer you up,” it comes with a lot of lemon flavor to savor.

Here’s an ingredients overview of the tempting new products:

  • After Eight Tarte i 3DAfter Eight Tarte: Refreshing mint and bitter chocolate is the unique After Eight flavor. Erlenbacher has maximized this profile as two dark sponge layers wrap themselves around a delicate cream with crispy biscuit flakes. This combination is covered in a layer of chocolate cream with peppermint oil, which is all topped off with cocoa icing.
  • Lion Tarte 3DLion Tarte: This offering completely reflects the popular brand image. Exciting textures are accentuated in the baked goods realm, as crisp biscuit flakes lie between two layers of fine almond sponge. A cream made of caramel and chocolate coated crunchy wheat is rounded off with a mixture of nougat cream and cocoa icing.
  • Lemon Tarte 3DLemon Tarte: Two sponge layers with lemon flavor surround a light cream with thin biscuit flakes coated in refreshing lemon cream and white chocolate. This product is promoted as a sweet, fruity temptation for “in between” indulgences.

“The three cake creations are not only delicious and diverse, they are also practical,” said Babette Schmidt, head of communications for the Groß-Gerau, Germany-based frozen baked goods company. “Our tartes are ideal for the away-from-home sector. In just under two hours, they are defrosted and ready to serve. Customers thus quickly get to enjoy the tarte. And they remain firm for 48 hours.”

Free of declarable additives, each 28 cm cake is distributed pre-cut. Twelve pieces come per box. The After Eight and Lion Tartes weigh in at 950 grams, while for the Lemon Tarte tips the scale at 1,000 grams.

It’s been a busy time lately for Erlenbacher, as just a few weeks ago it rolled out two new pre-sliced almond cakes, both gluten-free and containing no palm oil. Buyers attending the Anuga show may sample the almond cakes as well as tartes and other products at Stand A-031 in Hall 4.1.
