McRib is Back on Menu Track for a While in United States

The McRib is again available at more than 9,000 McDonald’s restaurants across the USA for a limited period in November. Served up on a hoagie-style bun, the sandwich features seasoned boneless pork slathered in tangy barbecue sauce and topped with slivered onions and tart pickles. It’s served on a 14-cm hoagie-style bun.

McRib photo“While many new items have been ushered in during 2018, we know our fans love this limited time classic,” said McDonald’s Chef Mike Haracz. “That’s why we wanted to bring the McRib to as many customers as possible this year. It is now available via McDelivery on Uber Eats, and we’re excited to make it more accessible to fans with the speed and convenience they expect.”

Initially introduced in North America back in 1981 after a year of test marketing, the product features a restructured boneless pork patty shaped to resemble a miniature rack of ribs. While very popular with a core segment of diners from the get-go, it was reportedly not a big enough hit in volume terms to remain on menus fulltime after 1985. However, outside of the United States the McRib has been a permanent fixture at McDonald’s units in Germany since its inception.

The McRib’s most loyal devotees in America can now download the McDonald’s Finder app to find participating restaurants offering the limited time sandwich, and swap McRib-themed stickers. Customers can also download the Uber Eats app to find the nearest participating McDelivery restaurant in their area.

$6 Meal Deal Debut

Meanwhile, November 1 heralds the unveiling of the quick service restaurant chain’s $6 Classic Meal Deal in the USA. The offering provides customers with a choice to opt for one of four of McDonald’s popular entrees: the Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Big Mac, 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, or Filet-O-Fish. It comes with any size soft drink or sweet tea, a small order of french fries, plus an apple pie or seasonal pie for dessert.
