European Cold Chain Future Leader Award Goes to Ben Price

Ben Price, commercial manager of Grocontinental, an AGRO Merchants Group cold storage and transportation company based in Whitchurch, Shropshire, England, has won the 2019 Global Cold Chain Alliance’s (GCCA) European Cold Chain Future Leader Award. It was presented during the GCCA European Cold Chain Conference held recently in Brussels, Belgium.

“I’m proud to be recognized as a future leader in the Cold Chain industry by receiving this award,” said Price. “This was an amazing experience for me, and I really appreciated the opportunity to learn, grow, meet new people and represent the company I work for.”

Among other eligibility requirements for the prize, nominees had to demonstrate excellence in their work, the potential to excel further within the industry, and possess insight into their organization’s strategic values and direction, policies and ways of working.

Price competed for the award with Andrew Lawrence, site director at Rick Bestwick in Chesterfield, England. As part of the selection process, each nominee was interviewed and judged by a panel of industry leaders from around the world. Candidates were evaluated on their knowledge level of the cold storage logistics industry, track record, communication skills and leadership ability. In addition, each contestant delivered a short presentation to the panel of judges and GCCA European Cold Chain Conference attendees.

Price will compete with other young leaders from around the world for the GCCA NextGen Award at the Global Cold Chain Expo, which will take place June 10-12 in Chicago, Illinois.

The 22nd European Cold Chain Conference attracted over 120 temperature-controlled logistics professionals who convened to share experiences and discuss best practices, build and solidify relationships, and meet with industry suppliers. The two-day event featured numerous panel discussions and education sessions ranging from the impact Brexit will have on the international food industry to automation case study reviews and a focus on the future of natural refrigerants.
