Orca Bay Seafoods and Odyssey Foods Merge Operations

Orca Bay Seafoods, Inc. and Odyssey Foods have merged their sales and operations units into a single entity. Sealaska Corporation acquired a majority interest in Odyssey earlier this year, and Tokusui Corporation of America is the long-time owner of Orca Bay.

odysseyBringing together the two marketing and value-added processing businesses will result in greater efficiencies and economies of scale and enhance the product mix available to customers, according to a jointly issued press release. The statement added: “The owners of both Orca Bay and Odyssey bring a common vision and business philosophy as well.”

Founded in 1983, Seattle, Washington-based Odyssey supplies a large number of seafood products under its Treasures of the Sea and Chef’s Treasures brands to both supermarkets and foodservice distributors, and provides private label frozen food products processed and packed at its Seattle-based processing facility. Items in the extensive portfolio include frozen crab, breaded cod, flounder, salmon, pollock, tilapia and crab.

orca king crab boxOrca Bay, based in Renton, Washington, has been a major North American Seafood processor and distributor since 1985. It processes and packs retail and foodservice products under the Orca Bay brand name. Offerings range from frozen king crab and traditional fisherman’s stew to sockeye salmon fillets, swordfish steaks, halibut portions, scallops and mahi mahi.

Sealaska, an Alaska Native Corporation owned by more than 22,000 shareholders, invests in several sectors including natural food, seafood, maritime and environmental services.

Founded in 1924, Tokusui Corporation is headquartered in Japan with other offices in Singapore and North America. It has holdings in many commercial areas including food processing, wholesaling, and distribution.
