Sigfusson to Address Juneau Innovation Summit

Dr. Thor Sigfusson, managing director of the Iceland Ocean Cluster and founder of Codland, will be the main guest speaker at the Innovation Summit slated for January 29-30 at Centennial Hall in Juneau, Alaska. Programmed to stimulate discussion about further boosting the economy of the state’s southeast, the two-day event is expected to attract business leaders as well as government officials, nonprofit executives and educators.

The goal of Codland, which is now owned by Vísir and Thorfish Fisheries, is to increase the value of raw materials harvested from the sea.

The speaker has worked as chief executive officer of Sjóvá as well as Iceland’s Chamber of Commerce, and served as deputy director at the Nordic Investment Bank in Finland. He has written five books on various topics, including international business, knowledge networks and salmon.
