Gorton’s Rolls with Smart & Crunchy National Road Tour

Having recently launched Smart & Crunchy Fish Sticks and Fillets to the North American retail market, Gorton’s has now taken to the highway to visit six cities from Peabody, Massachusetts, to Seattle, Washington, to introduce the products via free samples. It’s the Gloucester, Massachusetts-based company’s first-ever national tour for a new product line.

As Smart & Crunchy Fish Sticks and Fillets are not fried, they contain 50% less fat than Gorton’s regular breaded fish sticks and fillets, and just 200 calories or less per serving. Seasoned with a crunchy panko crumb and offering a “smarter nutritional profile,” they have been formulated to appeal to both parents and their children. Fillets are distributed in 431-gram bags containing eight pieces, while the fish sticks are packed in 445-gram packs with 24 units.

A branded Smart & Crunchy food truck and highly interactive booth will be at each tour stop, along with a dipping bar where visitors can sit to sample the new fish stick and provide “first-bite feedback” on touch screen kiosks.

The promotion also marks the debut of Gorton’s “Smarty Crunchman” – an eight-foot tall fish stick character who will serve as host. Visitors can pose for photos with Smarty, and receive product coupons and giveaways from Gorton’s brand ambassadors at every stop on the route, including Smarty Crunchman plush toys.

The tour will run from late February to mid-April with stops at the Northshore Mall in Peabody, Massachusetts; St. Charles Towne Center in Waldorf, Maryland; Lenox Square in Atlanta, Georgia; the Houston Children’s Festival in Texas; Hollywood & Highland in Los Angeles, California; and Northgate Mall in Seattle, Washington.

Additionally, the Smart & Crunchy Sweepstakes will kick off with the road tour and will feature daily and weekly prizes, plus one grand prize of a $10,000 family vacation to the winner’s choice of one of four destinations in the USA.
