Golden Cat’s Meow Moment for Young’s Gastro Cod Fish Dish

Young’s Seafood Limited picked up the Gold Award for Best New Fish-based Product during the British Frozen Food Federation’s (BFFF) Annual Retail Awards ceremony in London on June 11. The winning entry, as judged by consumers, was the Grimsby company’s Gastro Cod, Spinach and Cheddar Cheese Gratin ready meal.

Earlier in the year the winning dish was promoted in the first of Young’s new series of TV commercials, which introduced consumers to brand ambassador Malcolm the Cat. Voiced by Rupert Everett, Malcolm is described as “a discerning foodie cat who yearns for the delicious Young’s fish served up by his family.”

Yvonne Adam, marketing director of Young’s Seafood Limited, commented: “We couldn’t be more pleased to have won this award. Created by in-house development chef Serge Nollent, the restaurant quality cook-from-frozen dishes serve up contemporary flavor combinations featuring sustainably sourced fish and seafood. Other items in the range include Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper Dusted Basa Fillets, Spicy Cod Patatas Bravas, South Indian Fish Curry, and Pink Salmon, Alaska Pollock & Cherry Tomato Bake.
