Frozen Vegetables on USDA Public Meeting Agenda

The US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) are sponsoring a public meeting on August 12, 2014, in preparation for the 27th Session of the Codex Committee on Processed Fruits and Vegetables (CCPFV). Among matters on the agenda to be discussed are proposed annexes on quick frozen vegetables in the Standard for Certain Quick Frozen Vegetables.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide information and seek public comments on the agenda items and draft US positions that will be discussed at the 27th Session of the CCPFV, which will be held September 8-12 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The August 12 session will take place from 1 to 4 PM at USDA headquarters in the Jamie L. Whitten Building, 1400 Independence Avenue SW, Room 107-A, Washington, DC 20250.   Documents and complete agenda items related to 27th Session of the CCPFV are accessible on the Codex website at www.codexalimentarius.org/meetings-reports/en.

Codex was established in 1963 by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization. It seeks to protect the health of consumers and ensure fair practices in the food trade through adoption of food standards, codes of practice and other guidelines developed by its committees, and by promoting their adoption and implementation by governments.
