American Halal Company, marketer of the Saffron Road range of frozen entrees, has purchased Mediterranean Snack Foods Company, a distributor of over 50 natural lentil/legume-based chips, crackers and vegetable snack products. The price paid was not disclosed.

The Boonton, New Jersey–based acquisition, founded in 2005 by Vincent James, is regarded as a pioneer in the nutritious plant-based snacks category. Its products range from Baked Lentil Chips, and Hummus Crackers to recently launched Bean Stalks Snacks and a gluten-free mini meal line called tapaz2go.

Mediterranean Snack Foods offerings are widely available in more than 20,000 stores across multiple grocery, specialty, convenience, club and mass merchandise channels in USA and Canada. Much of the product line is Non-GMO Project Verified.
