Another Picard frozen food specialty shop is now doing business in Japan as an operating unit of Mihama-ku, Chiba-headquartered Aeon Saveur Co., Ltd. Stocked with hundreds of products supplied from France by Picard Surgeles, the store opened its doors in Tokyo’s Azubu Juban district in December.

AEON logoAeon, which has approximately 1,900 supermarkets in Japan and is regarded as the largest retailer in Asia, has been selling Picard frozen foods at a number of its locations since 2014. This will continue, with a wide selection on offer ranging from Salmon en Croute, Burgundian-style Escargot and Flounder Meuniere to sautéed duck, sliced foie gras, upscale appetizers, vegetables, croissants, desserts and beaucoup more.

Aeon Saveur opened its first dedicated Picard outlet in November. Doing business as the “Picard Aoyama Kottodori Store,” it operates under the theme: “Delicious Meals Anytime, for Everyone, 365 Days a Year.” A third Picard branch is scheduled to come on line later this year in Nakamenguro.

“In response to an aging population, more single-person households and the increasing number of working women, we strive to lead the frozen food industry in Japan by meeting consumer needs. This includes providing a variety of products which are authentic French home-style dishes, which is best realized by working together with Picard,” said an Aeon spokesman.
