FRoSTA Brand Products Again Score Double-digit Sales Gain

Bremerhaven, Germany-headquartered FRoSTA AG has reported that overall sales revenues increased by 7.5% to €501 million in 2017. Year-on-year net income after taxes rose by €1.8 million to €23.4 million.

According to IRI figures, retail sales of FroSTA brand products – which include frozen fish and other seafood, vegetables, fruits, ready meals and side dishes – advanced 13%. Fish and seafood made the biggest splash, as turnover in the segment increased by a whopping 50.2%.

fish Schlemmerfilet Mediterrano 360gThe results, announced on March 22, marked the fourth year in a row that FRoSTA brand sales logged double-digit gains. Management believes that its zero tolerance for artificial or unnatural food ingredients has something to do with the ongoing upward trend.

“Consumers increasingly reward the fact that we completely dispense with additives and write the countries of origin of the ingredients directly on packaging,” commented CEO Hinnerk Ehlers.

Meanwhile, overall sales for the fist two months of 2018 were up 4.3%. However, it is still too early to forecast what results may lie ahead due to uncertainty in exchange rates and commodity prices.
