Kontos Foods, a Paterson, New Jersey, USA-based manufacturer and distributor of traditional Greek and Mediterranean foods, announced on December 20 that during this holiday season it has donated over 250 cases of frozen pita bread, flatbread and baklava to organizations dedicated to fighting hunger and poverty. The estimated retail value of the foodstuffs – which went to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and Hilltop Haven, a women and children shelter based in Paterson – is $10,000.

Several types of flatbread were gifted, including White Pocket-Less Pita, Grilled Panini Bread and ethnic Tandoori Nan. Additionally, Kontos donated 12 cases of Classic Greek Baklava.

Warren Stoll, marketing director at Kontos Foods, commented: “We continually partner with organizations like these because they do such a great job helping those in New Jersey suffering from hunger. We’re confident that our donations will help make a difference to those in need this holiday season.”

Founded in 1987, Kontos Foods manufactures and distributes traditional Mediterranean foods to retail specialty stores, supermarkets and foodservice operators across North America and further afield. The family-owned company specializes in hand-stretched flatbreads, including Pocket-Less Pita, fillo dough, pastries, olives, gyro meats, and Greek yogurts, as well as over 50 varieties of multi-ethnic flatbreads.
