Duravant Buys Flexible Packaging Machinery Maker Mespack

Downers Grove, Illinois, USA-headquartered Duravant, an engineered equipment manufacturer serving the global food processing, packaging and material handling sectors, announced on June 18 that it has purchased Mespack. The Barcelona, Spain-based company is a manufacturer of flexible packaging equipment specializing in horizontal form-fill-seal technologies for flexible sachet, pouch and stick packs.

This is Duravant’s second acquisition in the packaging sector within 30 days and greatly enhances its design, manufacturing and aftermarket service capabilities on a global scale.

Specializing in delivering creative packaging solutions that maintain product integrity, extend shelf life and create marketing value, Mespack’s product range also includes multi-lane machines, pre-made pouch filling equipment and continuous motion filling systems. Built to combine simplicity with heavy-duty construction, Mespack products are engineered to enable maximum efficiency with minimum downtime. With over 1,500 machines in service worldwide, the company has regional service centers around the world that are able to quickly, source parts and dispatch service technicians.

In conjunction with Duravant’s acquisition, Enric Marti, chairman of the board and ceo of Mespack, announced his retirement. Reinout Van Zijp, who now leads the company as managing director, has succeeded him. A member of the Mespack team since 2001, Van Zijp has been responsible for its global growth and expansion throughout Europe, China, India and Latin America.
