TOMRA Sorting, a unit of Asker, Norway-headquartered TOMRA Systems ASA, has appointed Thomas Molnar to the new position of global sales and marketing communications director for its Leuven, Belgium-based food sorting business. He will spend a great deal of time in the field, going to key regions to meet customers and discuss the challenges they face.

TOMRA, a supplier of sensor-based food processing technology, made the appointment as it looks to maintain and strengthen the position of its food sorting equipment business in North America, Europe and the Middle East, as well as emerging markets in India, South and Central America, and Asia.

Thomas-Molnar-TOMRAMolnar, who is fluent in five languages, has a strong background in B-2-B international business development, having lived in 12 countries across three continents and worked in a variety of service sectors including tobacco, logistics and information technology. His activities at TOMRA will focus on supporting the company’s growth strategy and ensuring that the sales and marketing communication function is agile and robust to meet the future needs of customers.

“TOMRA Sorting Food is the undisputed technology and market leader of the sector,” said Molnar. “It is in the middle of a very busy period, having completed a number of acquisitions in recent years, and is in a strong position to grow and take the next steps in further strengthening and growing globally and within new emerging economies.”

Welcoming the new recruit, Ashley Hunter, senior vice president and head of TOMRA Sorting Food, commented: “We have appointed Thomas at this time in support of our global growth strategy, leading and supporting our sales channels and ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills, tools and knowledge as a partner in meeting the food industry sorting needs.”
