Ranstrand has been at the helm of Tomra since 2009. Founded in 1972, the Asker, Norway-headquartered company is global supplier of reverse vending technology and sensor-based sorting solutions for the food, recycling and mining industries. Its equipment has been installed in many frozen vegetable, potato, fruit and seafood processing plants around the world.

Employing more than 3,500 people, Tomra generated €778 million in sales during 2017 – up 12%. During the same year it acquired New Zealand-based lane sorting manufacturer Compac for €46 million, further reinforcing its position in the food sorting business.

Commenting on reasons Ranstrand’s won the award, a judge making the presentation remarked: “Tomra’s solutions are part of a widespread push to operate more sustainably. As the global population is expected to increase by 30 percent over the next 40 years, it has become essential for organizations to rethink how they obtain, use and re-use resources. Sustainability has been at the heart of Tomra’s business for four decades, and it continues to find new ways to optimize precious resources.”
