Live demonstrations of Marel’s ProCon Flowline and other fish processing applications will be held at Stand #865 during Seafood Expo North America in Boston, March 16-18. Specialists from Gardabaer, Iceland-headquartered Marel will be on hand throughout the exhibition to provide information and advice on the company’s equipment for processing salmon and whitefish, including farmed whitefish species such as tilapia and pangasius.

ProCon, the latest addition to the company’s series of processing flowlines, utilizes RFID technology to track all product on the line and monitor performance. With real-time feedback, dashboards display data on individual operator performance, enabling production managers to improve overall yield, throughput and quality.

The basic principal of a Marel flowline is to replace traditional manual table processing, where raw material is constantly being stacked and stored and then manually transported between processes. The ProCon conveys product in baskets to and from the line, allowing for high volumes to be conveyed to and from workstations. This involves far less handling and significantly decreases processing time compared to a manual table system, while boosting capacity and increasing worker productivity.
