“Helping Consumers” is the focus of the Private Label Manufacturers Association’s (PLMA) two-day “World of Private Label” show, which runs from May 16-17 at the RAI Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam. The theme shines the spotlight on the value and variety that own label products offer retail shoppers, and frozen foods are an important part of the mix that includes refrigerated items, dry grocery and beverages as well as non-food SKUs.

Adam PLMAThis 2017 edition of the fair will be the largest ever, with nearly 2,500 exhibiting companies from over 70 countries making the scene. It is expected that approximately 13,000 buyers and visitors from more than 110 countries will attend the event, which will host 60 national and regional pavilions.

The display area covers 14 halls in the RAI, divided over three sectors. The Europa Complex is devoted to food products, while the Holland Complex has exhibitors displaying non-food products, and Park Complex accommodates both food and non-food exhibitors.

A special attraction is PLMA’s Idea Supermarket, where visitors will be able to see displays of products that won 2017 Salute to Excellence Awards for innovation in private label. Show-goers can also check out store brands from more than 60 retailers around the world displayed on gondolas.

A pre-show seminar program held on May 15 featured a presentation entitled “The Future of Private Label,” made by Euromonitor International research analyst Alexander Kottke. He examined key trends, such as e-commerce, retail consolidation and discounting – each of which will have a significant impact on retailer brands in the years ahead.

A second presentation, entitled “Understanding the Millennial Generation,” was delivered by Richard Cope, senior consultant at Mintel. He analyzed how retailers and suppliers can successfully appeal to the new generation of shoppers.

Show hours for the May 16-17 main event are 9 AM to 6:30 PM. Additional information is available by visiting www.plmainternational.com.
