Over 30 senior level cold chain professionals gathered at the first Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) Executive Connection, held recently in Shanghai. The event was an invitation-only education and networking luncheon that brought together industry leaders to facilitate learning and business opportunities.

“Not only was this event informative, but I was able to make some great contacts,” said Terri Lee Tyminski, a commercial officer attached to the US Consulate General in Shanghai.

The Alexandria, Virginia, USA-headquartered Alliance has two affiliate partners in PRC, the Chinese Association of Refrigeration in Beijing and the Shanghai Association of Refrigerated Warehouses. GCCA membership has been growing in the PRC during recent years, as Americold, Preferred Freezer Services and Swire Cold Chain Logistics have expanded operations in the country.

The Executive Connection gathering, funded by the US Department of Agriculture, is part of GCCA’s larger efforts to build and strengthen the temperature-controlled supply chain around the world. Future global events include the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing International Cold Chain Logistics Summit May 29-30 in Xiamen City, a postharvest handling technologies short course in Bali, Indonesia, August 25-29, and launch of the WFLO Institute Latin America in Panama later this year,

Comprised of the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses, the World Food Logistics Organization, the International Refrigerated Transportation Association, and the International Association for Cold Storage Construction, the GCCA is a trade association that represents all major industries engaged in temperature-controlled logistics.
