Rotterdam-headquartered Thermotraffic Holland BV, a provider of temperature-controlled transport services for the food and pharmaceutical industries, has invested approximately one million euros to take over the logistics business of Strowmar Limited, a company based near London, in Hornchurch, England. The deal was made to further expand Thermotraffic’s seaport logistics activities and grow further in the United Kingdom market.

thermotraffic MD RobManaging Director Rob Haesakkers reports that the acquisition of Strowmar has already boosted Thermotraffic Holland’s clearance business by 10%. The acquisition, consummated on September 25, officially created a new unit operating as Thermotraffic Strowmar Limited. Martin Evans, founder and so far sole owner of Strowmar Limited, will manage the company for the next two years to guarantee a smooth transition. Rob Haesakkers, managing director of Thermotraffic Holland BV, has been appointed as managing director of the UK operation. He has assured employees that all positions will remain intact.

“Strowmar Limited’s portfolio fits Thermotraffic’s growth strategy perfectly,” said Haesakkers. “Its long-term experience in veterinary and custom clearance is especially important, as is its proximity and connectivity to English harbors.

Strowmar’s experience in imports and exports of foods of animal origin to and from the EU and third countries is regarded as quite advantageous. “Expanding these activities is an important part of our strategy,” said Haesakkers. “The takeover, which is expected to be easily integrated into our existing activities, will increase Thermotraffic Holland’s clearance business by 10%.”
