Scarborough, North Yorkshire-headquartered McCain Foods (GB) Ltd has introduced Sweet Potato Fries in 700-gram packs and microwaveable Baby Baked Potatoes in 500-gram bags to the United Kingdom retail market.

McCain Baby Baked Potatoes, seasoned with salt and black pepper, are ready to serve after just three minutes microwave oven preparation, while the Sweet Potato Fries require less than three minutes of deep-frying.

This new product development aims to inspire frozen potato purchase in this group by offering a variety of products that reference the latest food trends and feature interesting flavors, seasonings and cut types.”

The latest introductions follow a number of recent launches from McCain, including Spicy Peri Peri Fries and Steakhouse Ridgecut Fries, aimed at broadening choices for frozen potato products purchasers. The new items are aimed at driving penetration and frequency among consumers who don’t traditionally shop the frozen food aisle on a regular basis.

An online posting submitted by an Iceland customer on October 20 was positive about the Baby Baked Potatoes. The reviewer commented: “These are lovely and a nice change to have instead of roast potatoes with a Sunday dinner. They are quick and easy to prepare, which is an added bonus as far as I’m concerned.”
