Lamb Weston Set to Launch Seashore Flavored Potato Puff
Lamb Weston is introducing a new frozen product for the growing potato puff category on April 2. Seashore fries have been growing in popularity in the fry sector, so the Eagle, Idaho, USA-headquartered company’s innovation team set out to develop the same distinct flavor for the new Seashore Puff. The crispy product is seasoned with sea salt, black pepper and garlic.
Sales of potato puffs are expanding nearly two times faster than the overall frozen potato category, according to NPD Group SupplyTrack 12 data for the 12-month period ending in November of 2017. They are a versatile menu item and the Seashore flavor is a new base for creating topped and loaded dishes such as Cheesy Italian Truffle Puffs and Spicy BBQ Chicken Puffs.
“It’s no secret adults love potato puffs, and we are committed to giving consumers and restaurant operators what they love,” said Mike Smith, Lamb Weston’s senior vice president for growth and strategy. “Offering a Seashore Puff is a natural fit and good for an operator’s bottom line in this growing category.”
