Taste of Inspirations Edamame Rangoon Recall Underway
Progressive Gourmet Inc. of Wilmington, Massachusetts, is voluntarily recalling nine-ounce (225g) packages of frozen Taste of Inspirations Edamame Rangoon because they have the potential to contain undeclared crabmeat. People who have an allergy to crustacean shellfish run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume such products.
The private label hors d’oeuvres item, produced for the Hannaford Supermarkets chain of more than 180 stores in the northeastern United States, has a UPC code of 7-25439-98453 and is marked with “Best Before: 1 1117” on the back of retail cartons.
The potentially impacted Edamame Rangoon packs were distributed to Hannaford stores in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York.
A consumer reported the mislabeling incident. The packer, which produces a wide assortment of frozen private label products at a 63,000-square-foot FDA- and USDA-certified manufacturing facility, has initiated corrective actions to prevent future mislabeling. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this product.
Persons in possession of packages in question are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. No other production runs of Taste of Inspirations Edamame Rangoon are subject to recall.
