McCain Foods Limited has announced plans to expand output at its factory in Coaldale, Alberta, Canada. This investment will bring additional production capacity to the frozen french fry manufacturing facility, helping to meet continued demand for McCain products in both domestic and international markets.

Built in 2000, the Coaldale facility is a key plant within McCain’s North American network and today employs over 200 workers and draws its supply from 28 potato growers in the Southern Alberta region. The expansion, scheduled to be completed by the autumn of 2017, is part of an ongoing global capacity investment program that the company has in place.

In addition to Canada, McCain Foods has in recent months announced increased capacity investments at plants in the USA, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Belgium, Argentina, Colombia and India – reflecting continued growth on a worldwide scale.

“We’re actively evaluating new opportunities to invest in our network as our global volumes increase,” said Dirk Van de Put, the company’s president and chief executive officer. “Over the last 18 months, we’ve confirmed investments of more than $1 billion to add capacity, including investments in infrastructure, technology and capabilities, across the full range of McCain products.”
