Sara Lee Foodservice in New London, Wisconsin, USA, is recalling approximately 82,440 pounds of smoked frozen sausage rope due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on July 22.  Distributed in 10-lb. cases containing two 5-lb. packages with the code SKU 46218, the sausage was formulated with an ingredient containing hydrolyzed soy protein. The known allergen is not declared on the label.

The product, which bears the establishment number “Est. 2435” inside the USDA mark of inspection, was produced from January 1 through June 6, 2014, and was sent to distribution centers for further shipment to institutional users across the United States.  The sausage is not available in grocery stores or sold directly to consumers.

No reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the sausage have been received by either the FSIS or Sara Lee Foodservice.
