Where’s the beef? Why, at the Salomon FoodWorld stand (No. D011/E010) in Hall 4.2 of the Koelnmesse fairgrounds. That’s where the Grossostheim, Germany-based Vion Group company will be serving up a range of new burger products as well as Fire Roasted Chik’n Ribs and Chik’n Steak from October 10-14.

Salomon’s Homestyle Angus Burger boasts 140 grams of 100% Irish beef, while its Quick & Easy Burger Laugen Kit contains a dozen 140-gram precooked, ready to serve patties loaded with barbecue flavor to savor, plus 12 pretzel buns.

Also on the new products menu are hand-cut chicken thighs flame-grilled in a smoky barbecue sauce, and hand-cut chicken breast grilled and enhanced in a well-seasoned, slightly spicy marinade.

From the company’s extensive catalog of frozen convenience products there will be finger foods, handheld snacks and center-of-the-plate protein to see and sample.

Think about Tomorrow Today
Managing Director Bernd Stark points out that the “sustainability” theme looms large at Salomon FoodWorld, where the motto is “Think about Tomorrow Today.”

For example, he said: Our Styria beef from alpine natural beef is in connection with a project on the preservation of a unique cultural landscape. In the scope of an extraordinary ‘green preservation program,’ the animals were extensively settled in alpine regions, which were threatening to go wild. This enables ideal living conditions for the cattle and the preservation of the mountain landscape for future generations.”

From field to stream to sea, Salomon places great value on the selection of suppliers. All of the ingredients for its fish sticks originate from the ‘Pure Pangasius’ program for which a dedicated association was founded in Vietnam that vouches for sustainable aqua farming.

Furthermore, traceability and transparency is guaranteed for sustainable wild caught fish through the globally recognized Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) label. Its presence on every pack of seafood (value added or basic raw material) handled by Salomon assures not only that the fish has been sourced sustainably, but also that marine habitat has not been disturbed by harvesting methods.
