- The Western United States ranked #1 for preferring burgers with cheddar (67%), with the South coming in at a close second (63%).

Just in time to coincide with National Cheeseburger Day in the United States on September 18, Finlandia Cheese released findings from a survey about cheeseburger consumption preferences conducted recently among 2,000 Americans from coast the coast. The results, according to the Parsippany, New Jersey-based company’s public relations department, “are 'grater' than you ever imagined.”
The poll, conducted in conjunction with Learndipity Data Insights, revealed that two-thirds of US consumers enjoy American cheese on their cheeseburgers. Here are the complete rankings, based on the percentage of respondents who "like" or "love" each cheese variety on a burger:
