British Frozen Food Federation Names New Chief Executive
John Hyman, former group commercial director at Adelie Foods in the UK, has been chosen to succeed Brian Young as chief executive of the British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF). He will officially join the team on August 17 and work with Young until he retires at the end of the year.
Hyman has 23 years of experience in the food and drink industry. In addition to Adelie, he has been employed by a number of leading companies including HJ Heinz Frozen & Chilled Foods, Dairy Crest, First Drinks Brands, Lixir, Arla Foods and Danone.
“I’m delighted to be joining such a dynamic and successful federation,” said the incoming chief executive. “The frozen food industry is a real success story. Every day of the week our members provide delicious, nutritious and affordable food to millions of consumers and diners in households and catering establishments across the UK.
Headquartered in Long Bennington, Newark, England, the trade association’s 340 member companies include frozen food producers, wholesalers, importers, exporters, brokers, retailers, equipment and packaging manufacturers, and related associate businesses.
After having served more than 10 years as chief executive of the BFFF, Young announced his pending retirement late last year. He joined the organization as its director-general with 15 years of experience as managing director at Sundora Foods, Tryton Foods and Aunt Bessie’s. During Young’s time at the helm the Federation increased membership, modernized its structure and initiated a variety of new services and activities including an annual business conference.
Commenting on his successor, Young said: “There is still much for the BFFF to do. I’m confident that in John the BFFF board has found a new chief executive with the skills and personality to successfully take the federation to the next level. I wish him every success in the role.”
Meanwhile, Graham Day retired from the BFFF in May after more than 14 years on the job in various capacities including head of commercial operations and sales manager. “Taking time out to recharge the batteries, I wish BFFF members and colleagues continued success,” he commented in a recent LinkedIn posting.
