Prime Minister of Norway to Address NASF on March 6

Three days of informative programs and networking opportunities are in store for delegates attending the North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) In Bergen, Norway, March 5-7. Billed as “the world’s biggest executive business arena for the seafood industry,” the 14th edition of the annual conference will draw high-level delegates representing sourcing, value-added production, retail and foodservice sectors as well as government policy makers from more than 30 countries.

PM Erna SolbergErna Solberg, Prime Minister of Norway Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway will deliver the opening session address at 9:10 AM on March 6, followed by remarks from Iceland Fisheries Minister Kristjan Þór Júlíusson and UN Envoy for Ocean’s Peter Thomson. Food and Agriculture Organization Director General Arni Mathiesen will provide the FAO outlook for world seafood trade.

From 11AM to 12:20 PM four prominent industry leaders will offer “The View from the Bridge” in sharing their visions for the future. The speakers are Ole Arve Misund, ceo of Norway’s Polar Institute; Arne Møgster, ceo of Austevoll Seafood; Iceland’s Gudmundur Kristjansson, ceo and owner of HP Grandi and BRIM; and John Connelly, president of the National Fisheries Institute in the United States.

Thereafter, from 12:20 to 12:40 PM, two well-known players in the marine product sustainability field will provide insights into the status and outlook for this vital challenge for the industry.

Rupert Howes, UK-based ceo of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) will talk about ways to maintain a sustainable world fisheries industry. He will be followed by George Chamberlain, president of the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA), who will discuss his vision for developing sustainable fish and shrimp farming expansion around the world.

Among other major events set for March 6 and 7 are a four-hour Whitefish Summit, Pelagic Industry Summit, Sustainability Workshop Summit, Pareto Securities Investor Finance Seminar, and Seafood Innovation Day.
