Dr. Praeger’s Launches MSC-Certified Frozen Fish Products

The doctor – Dr. Praeger’s, that is – has prescribed four new frozen seafood products for retail store freezer aisles across the USA. The Elmwood Park, New Jersey-based family-owned and operated company known for veggie burgers just added Fish Taco Bites, Buffalo Fish Bites, Spinach Potato Pollock Burgers and Black Bean Chipotle Pollock Burgers to its healthy-eating line.

The just launched wild-caught Alaskan pollock fish bites and burgers are nutritiously dense and high in protein with no saturated fat, trans fat or preservatives. Furthermore, they are the only Marine Stewardship Council-certified fish products on the market featuring added vegetable ingredients – namely carrots, celery, bell peppers, leeks and more.

“More and more consumers, particularly millennials, are looking for the convenience of quick, nutritious meals and snacks right from the freezer – and they’re turning to sustainable seafood as a healthy alternative to meat,” said Larry Praeger, chief executive officer of Dr. Praeger’s. “Fish is a great source of protein. Incorporating veggies adds flavor and nutrients, and options like bites and burgers make them easier to eat any time of day.”

Crunchy and dippable, the Fish Bites – presented as snack-style finger foods – boast 11-12 grams of protein per serving. They are offered in two zesty flavors:

  • Buffalo Fish BitesFish Taco Bites – Cilantro, jalapeño and a hint of lime give these wild-caught pollock bites their flavor, and a crispy tortilla coating lends crunch.
  • Buffalo Fish Bites – Buffalo seasoning provides these crunchy breaded bites of wild-caught Pollock with a kick of heat, while celery and carrots balance out the popular flavor profile.
Flavorful vegetables and up to 10 grams of protein set Dr. Praeger’s two new gluten-free, grill-ready Fish Burgers apart for consumers looking for a lean alternative to red meat:
  • SpinachPotatoPollockBurgerSpinach Potato Pollock Burgers – Wild-caught pollock with spinach, potato, onion and leeks; 9 grams of protein per patty.
  • Black Bean Chipotle Pollock Burgers – Wild-caught pollock is blended with black beans, vegetables – including corn, red peppers and onions – and a spicy chipotle seasoning; 10 grams of protein per patty.

The new Fish Bites – distributed in 10 oz boxes – and four-pack Fish Burgers are at now available at Whole Foods Market, Kroger Co. retailers, and select natural food stores and conventional grocers across the United States at a suggested retail price of $5.99.
