Leon Grocery is turning up the heat in the United Kingdom this summer with the debut of Korean GFC Nuggets (RRP £4.25 per 300g bag), available exclusively through the Ocado online platform starting August 20. The plan is to roll out the frozen offering to other retailers later in the year.
“These nuggets have got Seoul,” says a press release issued by Leon Grocery. “Made with 100% chicken thigh and coated in Leon’s signature gluten-free crumb, this new take comes with a bold, spicy Korean-style twist – think umami-rich flavor, a fiery kick, and that all-important crunch.
“Perfect for Friday nights in or a quick mid-week treat, these spicy, crispy nuggets are baked, not fried, and serve up a great source of protein too. Just pop them in the oven and enjoy in minutes.”
Leon spent over four years developing the gluten-free coating used across its GFC range – a unique blend of grains that deliver crunch, all without the gluten. First a hit in Leon restaurants when GFC landed in 2018, the nuggets have built up a loyal following.
“There’s a real appetite for big, bold flavors at home, and the new Korean GFC Nuggets deliver just that. We’re thrilled to be adding this spicy take on a fan favorite to our growing grocery range, giving people even more ways to enjoy naturally fast food at home,” said Miriam Rose, head of Leon Grocery.
Leon Restaurants was founded in 2004, creating the category of Naturally Fast Food that tastes good, does good and is affordable. The brand has championed seasonal, Mediterranean-inspired and free-from food, and was the first to display nutritional symbols on its menus. It presently operates over 80 restaurants throughout Britain and the Netherlands.
