May 10 was National Shrimp Day in the United States, a time officially designated to celebrate the country’s most-popular seafood – notwithstanding the fact that approximately 90% of the approximately four pounds consumed per annum by Americans is sourced from abroad.

SeaPak, the nation’s top retail brand in the frozen specialty seafood category, has again been in the forefront of paying homage to the long-reigning king of the crustaceans. In the weeks leading up to National Shrimp Day 2016, St. Simons Island, Georgia-based SeaPak Shrimp & Seafood Co. distributed coupons, hosted giveaways and shared a multitude of quick-and-easy recipe ideas to promote this year’s observance as what it called the “most-Shrimptastic “ event ever.

“Americans continue to eat more shrimp than any other seafood, and we are happy to help them relish the day dedicated to this delicious choice and its remarkable staying power,” she said. “For SeaPak, National Shrimp Day is a fun way to connect with our fans and celebrate everyone’s favorite seafood product together.
