The “2014 IARW Global Cold Storage Capacity Report” is now available from the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses, which has been collecting data on the global sector since 1998. It details industry growth trends, market development indicators and comparisons, as well as characteristics of public refrigerated warehouses (PRW) around the world.
Written by Dr. Victoria Salin, an associate professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University, the publication features 42 pages of updated information, including market data on 58 countries. Total PRW capacity has been estimated at 552 million cubic meters worldwide in 2014, an increase of 92 million cubic meters (20%) over 2012.
During the last two years, approximately 17 million cubic meters of refrigerated warehouse capacity has been added to the IARW database from countries covered for the first time, namely: Egypt, Iran, Kuwait, Libya, El Salvador, Afghanistan, the Dominican Republic and Oman.
