Ice cream vendor John Taylor of C and M Ices has scooped up the coveted Ice Cream Van (also known as Mobiler in the trade) of the Year Award in the United Kingdom. Organized by Ice Cream Alliance (ICA), the 2023 competition was sponsored by Ice Cream Direct of Doncaster.
“Winning this award is the biggest honor of my life. This is our equivalent of the Oscars or the Premier League.” said Taylor. “As an ice cream van operator you can’t get a much more prestigious award, and it proves to everyone we put our all into our business.”
C and M Ices was established in 1889 and remains family owned and operated. John represents the 4th generation and has been selling ice cream since leaving school over 25 years ago. He can be found in one of his vans parked outside the Victoria Shopping Centre in Harrogate, if not in Ripon or Boroughbridge, most days from April to September.
“Congratulations to John,” said Zelica Carr, chief executive officer of the ICA. “There was very stiff competition among the three finalists – so to win is a very big achievement.”
