Nissin Foods, the pioneer of instant ramen and maker of Cup Noodles, has launched the Kanzen Meal line of frozen nutrient-dense comfort food products in the United States. Kanzen, the Japanese word for “complete,” is the Tokyo-headquartered company’s first innovation in the US single serve frozen meal category.
Kanzen Meal products have been created to deliver a complete meal solution that optimizes taste and nutrient density. Key facts include:
• Nutrient density has become more important with consumers, especially with the increase in GLP-1 usage
• Uses precision nutrition technology which combines food science, Japanese culinary techniques and tools to precisely distribute micro and macro nutrients throughout each meal while optimizing flavor
• Available in three varieties – Fettucine Alfredo, Spaghetti Bolognese and Shrimp Teriyaki. Each contains up to 23g of protein, 10g of fiber, more than one-third of the recommended daily values of all 27 essential vitamins and minerals with 0g added sugar, and range between 460-520 calories
• All three varieties have rolled out this June in specialty stores throughout the US west and southeast, with further distribution scheduled through the spring of 2026 and beyond
• Frozen is an innovation focus for the Japanese brand because the category is a growing destination for well being with a clear market opportunity in single-serve meals
“Kanzen Meal is well ahead of what other CPG brands have been able to achieve in addressing consumer desire for nutrient dense meals, especially with the increase in GLP-1 usage, while still delivering taste and convenience,” said Robert Little, chief executive officer of Torrance, California-based Kanzen Meal USA. “Our priority was perfecting the flavor of each dish, which meant combining Nissin’s legacy of food science and technology with the artistry of top chefs to deliver a first-of-its kind meal solution consumers can easily find in the frozen meal section.”
The Kanzen Meal range is now available at premium specialty stores on the US West Coast including Nugget Markets, Bristol Farms, and Gelson’s, as well as Kroger’s Harris Teeter division in the Southeast. The suggested retail price is between $6.99 and $7.99.
