Iceland Foods has recently published its 2024/25 Healthy Food Footprint Report, as well as its 2024/25 ESG Report which has expanded the metrics it reports on as well as including further targets in the ‘Eating Well’ space.

Making these additions to its annual reporting aims to improve the retail frozen foods specialist’s healthy but affordable offerings in the United Kingdom, as well as increasing its transparency.

Here is the healthy food targets:

• 85% healthy food sales
• Increase sales of fruit and vegetables by 10% by end of 26/27
• Increase sales of plant-based proteins by 10% by end of 26/27
• Own-label products which are “reduced” or ‘“light” alternatives will continue to be no more expensive

Additional metrics:
• Fibre sold
• Animal protein sales v plant protein sales

Iceland works closely with the London-headquartered Food Foundation organization, on the development and validation of these targets. An assessment of the chain’s targets, as well as other retailers targets can be found in their State of the Nation’s Food Industry 2025 report found at: https://foodfoundation.org.uk/publication/state-nations-food-industry-report-2025

Price Cuts in Wake of Storm Chandra

Meanwhile, in other news, Iceland Foods temporarily cut prices on hundreds of products at stores in numerous locations to support households affected by Storm Chandra. The adverse weather event brought snow and heavy rainfall along with strong winds to large parts of Britain on January 26 and 27. The chain also provided same-day delivery service to customers unable to leave their homes to shop during the storm.

Iceland’s reduced price offers included a four for £4.80 deal on selected frozen SKUs and half-price reductions on a variety of products including McCain Quick Cook French Fries, Chicago Town Tiger Crust Pepperoni Pizza, Birds Eye Ultimate Chicken Burgers, and Young’s Gastro Breaded Fish Fingers.
