Chicken of the Sea Frozen Foods (COSFF), a division of the Thai Union Group, has hired Drew Watts as its foodservice and wholesale senior vice president. With more than 20 years of experience in the seafood industry, most recently serving as vice president of sales at Direct Source Seafood, his leadership, combined with the company’s expanded broker network in the USA, will increase in-market coverage across all 50 states and provide more dedicated support to distributors and operators.
“These investments reflect our long-term commitment to building a stronger, more responsive foodservice and wholesale business,” said Dan Halford, president of El Segundo, California-based Chicken of the Sea Frozen Foods. “By investing in experienced leadership and expanding our in-market presence, we’re putting our products closer to customers, strengthening partnerships, and creating a platform for sustained growth.”

100% MSC Certification on Horizon
In other news, it was announced on May 2 that all Chicken of the Sea branded retail tuna products will achieve Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification by the end of 2026, making it the first of the big three household name tuna brands in the United States to achieve 100% MSC certification and carry the MSC blue fish ecolabel across its entire retail portfolio.
For more than a decade, parent company Thai Union, has made investments in tuna fishery improvement projects through considerable time spent working with fishing industry experts, vessel owners and government officials to improve fisheries and enable them to pass their MSC assessments. The company’s work with fisheries spans approximately 10% of global tuna catches.

The MSC certification positions Chicken of the Sea as an important player in Thai Union’s SeaChange 2030 initiative, a company-wide commitment to reshaping sustainability processes in the seafood industry by 2030, while supporting marine ecosystem health and coastal community resilience.
