Scott & Jon’s is bringing a comfort food classic to freezer aisles in the USA with the introduction of Homestyle Tuna Noodle Casserole. The new meal marks the Auburn, Maine-based company’s first tuna offering, delivering the the classic recipe while packing 21 grams of protein that cooks in four minutes.

Now rolling out at select retailers, including Giant Eagle, Weis, Schnucks, Big Y, Nugget and Market Basket, the launch comes as consumers increasingly seek familiarity and nostalgia in classic comfort foods. The National Restaurant Association named comfort foods the No. 2 overall trend in its 2026 What’s Hot Culinary Forecast, noting that familiar classics offer consumers a sense of nostalgia and emotional connection.

“Comfort and value are the twin pillars shaping America’s menus right now,” said Dr. Chad Moutray, chief economist for the National Restaurant Association. “Consumers are seeking meals that deliver joy and familiarity without breaking the bank.”

The recipe for Scott & Jon’s new product features al dente egg noodles, crisp-tender peas and chunk light tuna cooked in a creamy sauce made with milk, cream and cheddar cheese, then topped with seasoned breadcrumbs to impart a crispy bite. In addition to serving up 21 grams of protein, each meal delivers three grams of fiber – all under 500 calories.

In a blind taste test conducted among 103 consumers, Scott & Jon’s Homestyle Tuna Noodle Casserole was preferred 2-to-1 over a leading brand. It performed significantly higher across every flavor measure tested, including overall flavor, tuna flavor, pasta flavor, sauce flavor and vegetable flavor. Strong scores for tuna flavor, seasoning, and pasta flavor and texture were among the biggest drivers of the difference.

“Tuna noodle casserole is one of those meals that immediately feels familiar. It’s the kind of comfort food many of us grew up eating,” said Jon Demers, co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Scott & Jon’s. “We saw an opportunity to take everything people love about the classic and make it fit the way they want to eat today. Most importantly, it had to taste great. Seeing consumers prefer our recipe two-to-one over the leading brand gave us tremendous confidence that we had created something special.”

The launch also marks a new chapter for Scott & Jon’s as the company adds tuna to a seafood lineup that has historically focused on shrimp, salmon and white fish.
