Anne Mette Bæk New IFFO President, Gonzalo de Romaña Vice President

Anne-Mette Bæk and Gonzalo de Romaña have been elected president and vice president, respectively, of the IFFO Marine Ingredients Organization, the London, England-headquartered fish oil and fishmeal trade association. They will serve for two years beginning January 1, 2020.

Ms. Bæk, a member of the IFFO board of directors since 2014 and executive director of Marine Ingredients Denmark, is pictured above with outgoing IFFO President Eduardo Goycoolea. She also heads EU Fishmeal, the international association representing European fishmeal and fish oil producers.

Mr. de Romaña is the chief executive officer of Peruvian fishmeal and fish oil producer Tecnológica de Alimentos (TASA). He has served on the IFFO board of directors since 2018.

Following her appointment, incoming President Bæk stated: “I look very much forward to taking on this role for the coming two years,” said the incoming president. “As the networking heart of the marine ingredients industry, IFFO is committed to championing best practices and being a driver for change worldwide. Fifty-two percent of all marine ingredients are already certified as being responsibly sourced. I am convinced that the whole seafood supply chain can benefit from shared knowledge and expertise to bring our industry even further in this direction.

Incoming Vice President de Romaña added: “Collaboration with all stakeholders is vital for our long-term success. IFFO acts as a platform representing the industry’s contribution to achieve vital SDG goals pertaining to the protection of life below water, eradication of hunger and poverty, and will continue to so.”
