As the barbecue season fires up across America, El Segundo, California-headquartered faux meat specialist Beyond Meat is rolling out a limited edition Cookout Classic value pack of plant-based burgers. Available beginning June 22 in the frozen food departments of Walmart, Target, HEB, Safeway, Shoprite, Stop & Shop and other retail stores, the 10-pack offering is priced at $15.99.

“With summer grilling season under way, we are pleased to launch Cookout Classic value packs nationwide at our most affordable price point to date, enabling more consumers to eat what you love while enjoying the nutritional and environmental benefits of plant-based meat. This forward-looking pricing represents an important milestone along our journey to make Beyond Meat more accessible to all consumers,” said Ethan Brown, the company’s founder and chief executive officer.

Featuring plant-based ingredients with no GMOs, soy or gluten, the meat alterative burgers serve up 18 grams of protein. At $1.60 per patty, the producer is confident that backyard grill masters will increasingly opt to provide family and friends an alternative to animal protein during the weeks and months ahead.

The introduction of Cookout Classic value packs, which are distributed in recyclable cardboard cartons, is one of several initiatives aimed at increasing accessibility of Beyond Meat’s plant-based faux meat, including a new direct-to-consumer site expected to launch later this summer.
