The La Roche-sur-Yon, France-headquartered Cavac Group has acquired Atlantique Alimentaire, a La Rochelle-based producer of frozen savory pies, quiches, filled crêpes, pizzas and other products for retail and foodservice customers in Europe.

Previously owned by CookUp Solutions, which was formerly known as Comigel S.A.S., Atlantique Alimentaire was founded in 1997. Generating sales of approximately €30 million last year, the company employs more than 160 workers. All are expected to keep their jobs under the new regime.

“All of these companies are located within an hour’s drive around La Roche-sur-Yon and directly or indirectly use raw materials from farmer members of the cooperative. As such, Atlantique Alimentaire already used local raw materials such as flour from a flour mill supplied by the cooperative. This acquisition is therefore fully consistent with our agribusiness development strategy,” stated the Cavac Group in a press release issued on January 21.

Among major objectives set by the cooperative’s board of directors is “expansion of agrifood knowhow by exploiting synergies between subsidiaries” and buidling “a stronger connection from upstream to downstream.”
