Change of Command at Eurofrigo Coming this Summer

Rotterdam, Holland-headquartered Eurofrigo B.V. has announced that Jeroen Tempels will succeed Derk van Mackelenbergh as managing director on July 1.

It is part of the Nichirei Logistics Group, a member of Nichirei Corporation, Japan’s largest producer of frozen food products and operator of more than 150 refrigerated warehouses and logistics facilities in Asia and Europe.

Tempels, who has been on the job as vice president of Eurofrigo since January 1, has a solid background in international logistics, supply chain and project management. He came to Eurofrigo after serving as general manager of XPO Logistics’ Europe operations for more than five years. Other experience includes operations management positions at DHL Global Mail, DHL Express Nederland and DHL Supply Chain.

Derk van MackelenberghDerk van MackelenberghUpon stepping down from the helm after more than 17 years as managing director, Van Mackelenbergh will remain on the board of directors as a senior advisor until reaching retirement age on July 1, 2018. By then he will have logged 25 years at Eurofrigo, including seven years service as a deep-sea forwarding specialist early in his career.

Additional industry experience was garnered as commercial manager at Van Bon Cold Stores & Transport Services BV for almost five years, and as general manager at Vriesveem Rotterdam BV for two years.

During the past decade or so Van Mackelenbergh has been actively engaged in sharing knowledge and expertise with leading warehousing trade organizations in executive capacities. He served as chairman of the board of directors of the Brussels-based European Cold Storage and Logistics Association (ECSLA) from 2011-2014, was chairman of the board of governors of the Alexandria, Virginia, USA-based World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO) from 2009-10, and a member of the WFLO board of governors for three years.
