Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods has rolled out two new meat-free burgers. Now available at Whole Foods Market stores across the USA are the Elmwood Park, New Jersey-based better-for-you frozen food producer’s Grillhouse Burger and the melty Grillhouse Cheddar Burger in two-packs that sell for $5.99. Each 4-oz (113g) patty features 20 grams of protein, steakhouse-style seasoning and a blend of vegetables including onions, carrots, sweet potato, and butternut squash.
The Grillhouse Cheddar Burger marks a milestone as the brand’s first burger made with real cheese, expanding its reach to flexitarians and plant-based eaters, as well as traditional burger lovers seeking to reduce red meat without sacrificing flavor. The line builds on the company’s burger innovation, following the 2024 launch of its Crunchy Burger, which introduced a new texture to the veggie burger category.
“While many plant-based options in the freezer aisle aim to mimic meat, Grillhouse takes a different approach,” said Jenna Behrer, Dr. Praeger’s chief growth officer. “We set out to create a burger with fresh-off-the-grill taste and bold flavor that just happens to be veggie-forward. This is about delivering the flavor and experience people crave, while staying true to our mission of better-for-you food.”
The Grillhouse line also debuts a reimagined packaging design for Dr. Praeger’s featuring sleek, modular boxes that can be displayed vertically or horizontally, giving the range a premium look that feels like its own collection.
In business for over three decades, Dr. Praeger’s caters to consumers seeking minimally processed, clean-ingredient foods that taste good. Founded by two heart surgeons determined to make healthy food easily accessible, the company is a leader in the all-natural, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and kosher frozen food categories. In addition to veggie burgers, its wide range of products includes Broccoli, Spinach and Sweet Potato Littles, Southwestern Black Bean Crunchy Stars, and Veggie Fries.
