Gardein celebrated National Burger Day in the USA on May 28 with its new Ultimate Plant-Based Burger, and it has enlisted a pair of celebrity burger enthusiasts to kick-off the party.

Comedian Amy Sedaris and entertainer Lance Bass took to their Instagram channels to grill up something tasty with the Conagra Brands company. With both celebrities offering a unique take on the frozen product, fans can cast their vote as to “Who Cooked it Better?” by visiting Gardein’s Instagram page.

For many consumers, plant-based burgers serve as an entry point to the meatless-alternatives category. According to research from IRI, 70% of first-time buyers of faux meat products make a veggie burger their initial purchase. In an effort to ensure that newcomers to the category have a satisfying experience, Gardein has designed the Ultimate Plant-Based Burger to mimic the taste of real beef, with no soy ingredients and no GMOs.

“Burgers have become a symbol of the meat-alternatives category, and we believe our newest offering belongs at the top of the list,” said Tara Rozalowsky, Gardein’s vice president and general manager.

Made from pea protein, the Gardein Ultimate Plant-Based Burger weighs in at four ounces per patty and has 19 grams per serving. Six-packs retail for $12.99, while a two-pack is available for $4.49.

With roots in chef-inspired cuisine, Gardein believes consumers seeking plant-based meals shouldn’t have to settle for a limited menu. Its offerings include Meatless Meatballs, Chick’n Tenders, Fishless Filets and more.
